Book of the Month for May 2008 | No B.S. Wealth Attraction for Entrepreneurs by Dan Kennedy

No BS Wealth Attraction for Entrepreneurs
This is the first in a new series and feature on the Internet Business Mastery site that we’re calling…The Book of the Month. Very creative, eh? Maybe we’re getting in touch with our inner Oprah, maybe we just feel that you’re entitled to our opinion about top business and success books ;). In any case we thought this would be a fun addition to our content.

Sterling and I *don’t* just read a lot of books, we highlight and discuss them, then make mind maps about how to use the information. We thought it would be fun to experience and share this process with the whole community each month by choosing a book to focus on. We’re still working out the details of what to do with it, but here are the ideas that we have so far…

  1. Recommend a book on the site and podcast
  2. Have a giveaway each month where one or more people will win a copy of the book
  3. Discuss the book on the blog or in the upcoming member forums (launching in the near future)
  4. Find out what the you think about the book, what you liked most and how you plan to implement what you have read
  5. Share with the community what we liked most about the book
  6. Share with our private members (again, coming in the near future) a recording of Sterling and I discussing the book (something we often do anyway on the phone) as well as a mind map of our favorite takeaways and how we plan to implement the information in our own businesses

We’d love to hear what you’d like to get from this “book of the month” feature in the comments. So, that brings us to the inaugural Book of the Month.

No B.S. Wealth Attraction for Entrepreneurs by Dan Kennedy

If you’ve listened to the podcast for awhile then it’s no secret that Dan Kennedy is a valued mentor to both me and Sterling. He has significantly impacted the way we think, helping us to be smarter business owners, make more money and design our ideal lifestyle. It’s been said that Dan Kennedy is a millionaire maker.

Our pick for this month is Dan Kennedy’s No B.S. Wealth Attraction for Entrepreneurs.

Read this book and in just a few months make more money than you have in years. Sound unbelievable? That’s Dan Kennedy’s specialty. Dan “Millionaire Maker” Kennedy has helped many thousands of entrepreneurs create “the wealth surge experience.”

This book is filled with Dan’s personal experience in building wealth for himself as well as helping thousands to do the same. We don’t want to oversell it, so we’ll just leave it at that.

We’ll be giving away copies of the book on this month’s podcast episodes. You can also look forward to the opportunity to get special content based on this book.

Buy the book here: No B.S. Wealth Attraction for Entrepreneurs (No B.S.)

So, if you’ve already read the book (or once you’ve read it) let’s hear it! What did you like best? What didn’t you like? What is one way you will implement the the information in your own life and business?

Please also leave a comment if you have an idea in general about what you’d like to see happen with the Book of the Month feature.

Hi,

I’m going to jump the gun a bit here, as I’m only about half way through the wealth magnets. I think the book is fantastic, and I’m already seeing things change on a daily basis and start to improve!

One of the areas that I’ve become more aware of is the little things I say and think about money. Rich Dad talks about this a lot, saying “How can I afford it” instead of “I can’t afford it”, and Dan takes this to another level!!

I can’t wait to get through the rest of the book, and to see the improvements that it makes in my life over the coming months and years!

Keep up the good work guys!

Mark.

Jason,

This by far is my FAVORITE of the NO BS books by Dan Kennedy!
I’ve read 3 others, which were all great! I like the concept of money
liking speed. The way to attract money is to move. Don’t stay stagnant.
It’s a must read for all entrepreneurs

This book of the month club is a great idea! I like the idea of you commenting about it in a podcast as well.

I’m a big fan of Dan Kennedy. Looking forward to reading this book…

@Mark,

Please DO jump the gun. In fact, I’d love to have people’s insights as they read the book. Feel free to come back and share more.

Thoughts about money are powerful. That trick of asking “how can I afford this?” instead of saying “I can’t afford this” has had a significant impact on me. I’ve done things I would have never done otherwise (that worked out spectacularly) if I hadn’t pushed myself to be creative with my thoughts about money.

@Christina,

I think it is my favorite No BS book as well…and that is saying something because they are all awesome! I’m definitely working on the speed thing for myself. The book made me see places where I don’t act fast enough, usually because I am worrying about something insignificant to protect my own ego.

@Hendry,

Please let us know what you think when you do read it.

Thanks for a great podcast guys, every two weeks you deliver fresh and relevant info. I’m new to Dan Kennedy’s products but I’ve heard great things about him (despite his unending marketing schemes) and I’ve bought this book.

I look forward to your many more insightful podcasts and new sites!

M

Hi Guys,

I’ve been listening and enjoying your podcasts for probably a year or so now and came to look at your new web presence. It looks much better - quite an upgrade from the old one.

My suggestion - you guys need to get new headshots - next to the fresh and airy design of the website, the photos just don’t cut it!

Lynn

I read all 26 wealth magnets on the plane yesterday. Thanks for the excellent recommendation. I learned a lot.

Please keep recommending good books. Are there any other “No BS” books you guys recommend?

Hi,

The title of this book raised a question for me: which would be better to use in a URL - the term “BS”, or the actual word “Bulls*it”?

I think using “BS” would attract a broader audience, but “Bulls*it would make a stronger impression.

Any thoughts?

Jay and Sterling:

First of all, thank you both for the useful and informative podcast! I initially discovered it around episode 17 or so and have been an avid fan ever since.

For anyone who has not yet read “Wealth Attraction,” a few comments. I picked up a copy after hearing Sterling and Jay talk *so* much about Mr. Kennedy. The book store I happened to be in at the time had only this volume in the series, so this was the one. Having not read (yet) any of Mr. Kennedy’s other books, here are my comments on this volume:

1)It is very easy to read and re-read. Similar to Dale’s review, I just re-read it on a recent plan trip. I really appreciate how he doesn’t pull punches, or wrap up a lot of impractical, useless generalizations and “theories” in an envelop of other generalizations and theories. One really gets the feeling that Mr. Kennedy lives, and has lived what he preaches.

2)Similar to Mr. Ferriss’ book, one needs to be prepared to have their assumptions challenged, and re-think beliefs of making money and especially managing/increasing money. His writings on business ownership and the sacred duties of business owners and entrepreneurs are *far* different than what popular media ceaselessly preaches today.

3)The guest chapters at the end (in my opinion,) are not as good as Mr. Kennedy’s text, and seem overly targeted toward getting the reader enough to hire them as consultants. Nothing at all wrong with that per se, but the content in those chapters was a bit light for folks that want to sell high dollar consulting. One area I did personally find interesting was the chapter on Tax Lien investing. I’d never heard of this before and the “teaser” chapter written by the guest author did make me want to know more.

All in all, and excellent very *readable* book by a man who really knows his stuff.

Best regards,
-Corbin

I forgot to mention previously that I only read Section I of this book. The other II sections aren’t as interesting, in my opinion. Section I is definitely worth the cover price.

@Michael,

That’s an interesting question. It would make a stronger impression, but you have to ask yourself if it’s the impression you want. Basically it comes down to this: does it communicate the impression you want to the customers that you ideally want to attract.

I’m sure that version of the title crossed Dan’s mind and he certainly has been so bold with things in the past, but he probably decided it would be a bit too much

@Dale,

I’ve read and recommend all the No BS books. I’d probably recommend his book about time next.

@Lynn,

You absolutely right about the head shots. Sterling has a new one now. I’m getting around to doing mine. I think I need a hair cut first!

@Corbin,

Great analysis of the book. I really enjoy that his books challenge my thinking so much.

You’re right about part 2 of the book. I only skimmed through it and then read the one or two sections that really interested me. It is, more or less, sales letters for those individuals, however, there is a lot to be learned by what Dan is doing there with the book. In the end, it’s a brilliant strategy.

@Dale,

I agree. It’s still worth it even if you only read the first part of the book.

First I have to say that I love listening to you guys and for months now I have hesitated to start an online business, I always like to have all my ducks in a row. You guys are constantly saying how you just have to do it. Well, after reading the no BS book, I decided to try it and you know what, it feels great getting my feet wet.

The no BS book was very interesting and I think listening to you guys and then getting the suggestion for this book at just the right time, made me take the leap. Although I’m not making any real money, it has boosted my confidence that this can really work.

Keep up the good work and maybe you should put a place that your readers/listeners can suggest books to you and the rest of the community.

John

@John,

That’s a great idea to have a section where community members can add book suggestions. We’ll add that to the list.

Think I better jump the gun and purchase this book.Find out what the fuss is.
