In this episode of Internet Business Mastery, we play highlights from our interview with Tim Ferriss, author of The Four Hour Workweek. Earlier this year we had the opportunity to speak with Tim and ask him questions from the Internet Business Mastery community. He shared with us key insights such as:
An important factor you should look for in your target market
Why information marketing makes a great muse
What to do if you are working long hours and can’t seem to scale your business
Also, Sterling talks about lessons he’s learned from Dan Kennedy’s new DVD, The Phenomenon. Jay talks about hiring a full-time virtual assistant.
Great show, I have just ordered the 4 hour work week on amazon. But the episode left me with a couple of questions. Firstly, you are now looking to have virtual assistants do more work, but I am not certain what I should be paying for a VA, where to find one or how to choose one. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this done or what it costs?
Who are the Top 10 Internet Business Mentors You Can Trust? I love the concept of the 4-hour work week and starting an Internet Business. Who are the Top 10 Internet Business Mentors You Can Trust? Give me an honest answer with the tools and training you have used and how you made money.
So many folks trying to sell something; capitalism is great. Finding the SHORT LIST seems to be quite a task.
Re: Luke’s inquiry on Virtual Assistants, in Tim’s book he recommends a couple. I found that one of his suggestions for YMII is http://www.getfriday.com for VA’s. I found a VA in the US and she’s great!
Best of luck,
Professor Click
Thanks Professor, I will check that out but if anyone else has ideas let me know. In regards to your question I cant give you a list but I can certainly recommend a book called “How to get everything you can out of all you’ve got” by Jay Abraham. I have read his book and it is fantastic, I have also heard him speak a number of times and he is fantastic there as well. Lots of useful advice for business owners.
Hey guys - You’re welcome for the donation. My pleasure!
I enjoyed this latest show. Ferris provided some great words of advice. Thanks for that!
Question for anyone - I started a blog so that I can email iPhone pix directly to it (using Blogger). Does Wordpress allow this too? I haven’t dabbled with Wordpress yet.
Thanks for the posting the interview. Tim Ferriss’s 4 hour work week is phenomenal and I must say it inspires me greatly after reading. His 4 steps ‘DEAL’ process has helped me reorganise my online business. Thanks again
I’m still confused. Gotta explore further. I started my blog using Blogger - which I love because I can immediately post photos direct from my iPhone.
Yet, you recommend Wordpress.org (and not Wordpress.com, correct?) But I don’t know that I can email photos realtime directly to Wordpress.org, correct? Even with utterz?
Agentsofvalue.com is a good place to start. I have one VA with them right now. He is a bit basic, meaning he doesn’t do a whole lot of web design, but he can do repetitive tasks like there is no tomorrow. Jay and I are currently looking into several other possible places to get VAs other then elance.com and the like…
@Mark,
wordpress.org is for hosting the blog on your own server, which is what we both do.
I know it’s a “term of art” but does anyone else have a problem with the term “Virtual Assistant?” I mean they are assistants and they are really no more virtual assistants than they are virtual people. LOL just one of those things that bothers the writer in me.
I believe you can send photos to a WordPress.org blog with Utterz. I prefer .ORG because you install it on your own site.
@Indra,
I haven’t had any bad experiences so far. About the worst that has happened is that things don’t get done as fast as I would like. I guess I have been fortunate. I always give small task at first to test a new VA out.
Jay,
Thanks -
I went ahead and emailed Utterz - what a concept - and got the official answer about emailing iPhone pics to a Wordpress.org site:
“Just set up an Utterz connection in The Lab to your WordPress.org site and you’ll be all set!”
I’ve already set up my Blogger Blog. I admit, I like the ease of use. But you guys so strongly recommend Wordpress.org that I’m considering switching and starting over with that. I guess I’m afraid of the learning curve, but I do want full control…
If your blog is nothing but a for but a “for fun” type thing, you might be OK staying with Blogger. But really, for the future of your internet presence and business pursuits, a transition to WordPress.org is well worth it. There are too many advantages to enumerate here, but just having control of your own domain is really enough reason.
Are you guys going to put together that VA tips and tricks? I’d love to know any tips you guys have on picking a company, managing the VA, what to look out for etc..
We get that question a LOT! We are actually considering do a course on it, since it is so important. Keep your eye out, we may do podcast with some of the basics and later do a course, not sure yet…
