What are your favorite ways to use a mind map? Do you use it for business development? Do you use it to flush out your personal goals? Lets see what all the different ways of using mind maps are so we can add them to our world!
Great intro to MindManager, thanks. I just started using both this program and Camtasia this past month and I love them both! Now that I’ve seen more of how you use it as an overall organizer, I’m going to work on that same thing.
I sent you an E-Mail question and received a reply stating that I need to ask my question in the “current blog post”. I hope this is the right place to post this, if not, I apologize.
I heard one of your episodes of your podcast where you mentioned that we should add a “site map” to our Web Site to make it easier for Google to crawl it, and in turn, give us a better Google ranking. Now my question is…
Do we need to add a site map *LINK* on our site so it’s available to our viewers? Or is uploading the site map to our FTP good enough for the spiders to crawl it? If we need to add a link to our site map on our site, is a “hidden” link good enough? A site map just doesn’t fit into our design, that’s why I’m asking.
Ugh! $350 per user? There are much cheaper options for someone just getting into MindMapping. I recommend FreeMind ($0) which is an absolutely excellent starting point. I use it almost daily. Then there is MindMeister.com for purely on-the-web mind mapping, so you can create a map on one computer and have acces to your map on any other computer. There is a free version that you can use indefinitely. I’ve used both of these tool quite a bit and feel absolutely no need to spend $350 for the MindJet product. Save yourself some cash!
I’ve been using FreeMind for a while now and have recommend it too. However, I have found a lot of limitations and need for more functionality. MindJet has all the functionality I need and like Sterling shows, the use of adding links and the like is quite helpful.
I added the free software to my resources page in this blog. It’s NOTHING like mindjet though, it’ll get you started but it doesn’t compare by any means other then super basic.
I actually find mindomo.com as the best online mindmapping software, very similar to Mindjet, BUT Jay and I have to use mindmeister simple because it allows you to make changes with other people instantly. If you are alone in your mindmapping persuits you should use mindomo.com for online and if money isn’t as much of an issue then you use Mindjet.
I have to say that moving to Mind Jet has expanded the capabilities of my mind maps considerably. I’ve made some elaborate mind maps with FreeMind, but Mind Jet is far superior.
FreeMind’s functionality is only a quarter, if that, of Mind Jet. There are so many more options available.
Just thought I’d let you know from someone who’s used FM for a couple years before going to MJ.
