1. I downloaded the Mind Map and while I get the general idea, I’m having a tough time realizing how to make it work for me. How do I use it a business tool to help keep me organized and keep my empire growing? Can you show us an idea of what your mind map looks like (without giving away any secrets, of course)?
2. You also mentioned in this podcast an hourly schedule you were keeping. Do you have a format that you like? Would any day planner format work just as well?
I’m about to head out on my own at the beginning of the year and go back to marketing for small business again. Some of my downfalls last time I did this were not keeping focus and not marketing myself/spending too much time on my clients business and not my own. I want to make sure I don’t make the same mistakes this time around.
In the first recording…Interesting that you talk about “just starting”. I find a lot of artists contacting me saying they have to have everything in order, have to complete this body of work, have to learn this technique etc…before they can do anything …of course they never complete anything at all and then they marvel at others who seem to be going somewhere! In the second recording I like the timer idea and being creative at the time of day you are most up and awake and ready. I am going to change my opening e-mail time to the end of the day. I get dragged down by that all the time!
This podcast is great! I’m just starting out marketing my business at http://www.ToughMoney.com and your tips on time management are right on the money.
If you use Outlook, it has a default to pop up email notifications. I had to turn those off b/c I would constatly be destracted by the notification. You can also change Outlook to your calendar instead of you list of emails; you’ll be less distracted by a subject line that catches your eye.
The use of a timer is also a great idea. I am wondering about the show notes, though. In the podcast, you mentioned posting your schedule, but the notes above appear to be for episode 3. Do you have those elsewhere?
Those are great Outlook tips. I use those myself and it does really help. Yes, the show notes above were overwritten at some point with those from episode #3. We need to fix that. There are always a million other things to take care of.
However, you can download the files mentioned in the show by going here.
You’ll see directory that contains serveral files, the ones I believe you are looking for are JaysTimeLog and SterlingScheduleExample.
It looks like the content of this post is from podcast episode #3 not #2 and @2 is missing I was looking for your time log example and couldn’t find it.

What People Are Saying
I don’t think you guys even realize how positive of an impact you have on countless numbers of people, what both of you have done to better many peoples lives and the world around you is truly commendable.

“I’ve been following your stuff for a while now and have largely improved what I have in my current day job — a full-time MD. Since I started thinking and applying stuff from your show. My annual gross has since gone up from about $130k to $216k.”
Guys, I have two quick questions for you:
1. I downloaded the Mind Map and while I get the general idea, I’m having a tough time realizing how to make it work for me. How do I use it a business tool to help keep me organized and keep my empire growing? Can you show us an idea of what your mind map looks like (without giving away any secrets, of course)?
